Default Unfinished Job by Sleek's Crystal Kitchen, Sector 21, Khargar, Navi Mumbai

My wife and I visited Sleek's Crystal Kitchen Showroom at Khargar, Mumbai on 13 Mar 10. The dealer Ms Suchita Chaudhary attended to us and made a plan for cabinets, gas stove and chimney at a cost of Rs. 1.5 Lakhs; with the payment terms being 50% advance, 45% @ delivery of material and balance 5% on completion. Out of the total sum, Rs. 5000/- were kept negotiable "and you pay it after completion of our good work", she said. Accordingly, I paid the first advance on 13th Mar itself.

Until mid Apr 10, we did not hear from her at all. When contacted she took the excuse that we were not contactable! In addition to my cell number she had my email ID! She said the material was ready but her readiness took another two weeks to materialise. On 29 Apr she said she would shift the material to our house E 1004, Lily, Jal Vayu Defence Enclave, Sector 20, Khargar only when we paid the full amount! Now this was not in consonance with payment terms since on delivery of material together with the original advance I was to pay only 95%. Anyway, I still trusted her and paid her the entire sum minus Rs 5000/- of negotiable amount for "good work".

This was a major mistake since all along her ONLY concern was money; much against the Vision and Mission of Sleek International. She did not shift the entire material (held on to some drawers and baskets; it came out later that she did so deliberately in order to twist our arms and get the "good work" money too in advance! So even after repeated reminders she did not complete the job and a month later we shifted into our new house without the operational kitchen that we wanted for which we had already paid Rs. 1.45 Lakhs. She acted haughty and repeatedly made us feel small by telling us that other than us everyone was happy with Sleek job!

I made a formal complaint to Sleek International office in India. One Ms Inaya attended to my complaint and then one Mr Mangesh Desai. Initially he said that she has been instructed to complete the job but later sent a mail that she would complete the job only on receipt of balance Rs 5000/-. He forgot that this was my original complaint that she was holding us to ransom; much against the terms according to which I am to pay ONLY after completion of works and not the other way round!

It has been 80 days after my original advance. She has smsed to me several times with her illegal demand. She has in smss admitted that she held on to the delivery of full material and completion of works awaiting Rs 5000!! I think in the consumer court I donot have to prove her guilt since she has admitted it already but she is still brazen enough to continue with her atitude.

Any ideas how should I go about it?
Also anyone else too has suffered at the hands of Sleek dealers?

File a police complaint, or approach an advocate, he will charge you a minimal fee , find a good advocate, and sue the company. Law is existing in India to protect people. So make good use of it and seek legal remedy.

I also found sleek kitchen representative very un professional in Borivali, Mumbai. After reading your complaints I think in Sleek Kitchen there is no one to take care of consumer. They are only selling promises and actual product and service. I am not going to decide on sleek kitchen any more

    thanks

Default Bad response from MAI Kitchen (Sleek) CBD Navi Mumbai

We ordered kitchen table to Mr. Anand from MAI kitchen (dealer of sleek in CBD Belapur), but after encashing intial amount he never reverted back to us and our kitchen table is still pending.... from last one and half month.

Now i am getting very bad feedback about him. He completes his job after 8 months and again this happens only after complaining to Sleek kitchen head - India and lots of followups.

Sleek kitchen quality is complete bad and they never give response to call or query.

We don't know what to do now but last option is to register case in consumer court.

    Hi Guys,

I have to get a kitchen made and I thought of Sleek since I bought my furniture from @Home and they have an outlet there. First of all their follow up is extremely poor. After that, when I had a meeting with the store manager of Sleek and when we were finalising on the design and everything, he showed us drawers from different kitchens placed in the showroom. I noticed that when two drawers (one above the other) were opened, they overlapped. In the sense that the above drawer would slope down and would come on the lower drawer. This was noticed in BOTH THE KITCHEN ON DISPLAY in the showroom. On asking the reason, he said it was due to misalignment and quickly added that it will not happen in your kitchen and if it happens 'i am there'. Now this is a very vague assurance. So, I asked him specifically that what if this happens after 1 year. He said then they will charge. So I told him that why should I pay for a bad workmanship or defect ? So, then he quickly put the blame on me that if you 'mishande' and 'overload' then we cannot help it. Now the display kitchen had hardly anything in it and yet on two of the kitchens it had the same problem. Hence it was quite apparent that this must be a normal defect with their kitchens. I was concerned that this could happen to me too. To my surprise and shock, he then tells me that WHY SHOULD I OPEN TWO DRAWERS AT A TIME. Then said that if he just wanted to sell the kitchen he would have told me that it will not happen in your kitchen. I immediately told him that that is what precisely he had told me when I noticed it and informed him. But instead of accepting his mistake, he continuously kept on arguing which is absolutely against customer service and marketing fundamentals. But he was least bothered and wanted to prove his point right by hook or by crook. I simply walked out of the showroom since he never stopped arguing.

After this incident, I came back and searched on the net for consumer complaints and I discovered that there are numerous complaints against SLEEK kitchens all over India. From all these complaints and my personal experience, it appears that they not only have poor quality product but also bad customer service.

    I live in CBD BELAPUR
I went to sleek kitchen KHARGHAR branch in the end of jan. We had asked ms choudhary for a quote. Firstly let me tell all the people on this forum that SLEEK kitchen is very expensive. They charge exorbitant prices saying prices vary depending on the quality of steel which i think is just a marketing gimmick.
Now coming back to the topic ...she gave us a quote of INR 35000 just for a few drawers with baskets and doors, believe me if you see my kitchen it is a bit small , hence i felt it was way above my budget. Still I wanted good work hence opted for it. She was very polite at that point in time and told us the same 50/50 advance payment which i think is std for everyone. We told her we will get back to her in the month of feb right after i get my bonus and she was ok with it. The price she quoted then was INR 30000 with discount.

We called her by the end of feb and infd her that we will do the work provided if she cud give us a little more discount.she called us in to our showroom hinting that she would hence we went there a couple of days back.
She met us again and said that the last quote was for INR 31000. we corrected her that it was INR 30000 but our budget is INR 25000 so if she could do the work in that budget she can proceed with the work.
She then started subtracting small things form the package like steel rods etc us that the best price would be INR 27000. We then tried persuading her to fit everything(including the rods etc) in the 27k package. Thats the time she became a bit rude. I also asked her how she arrived at the discounted rate right from 35k to 30k to which she threw a file on the table and said we can work it out ourselves as if we understand the jargons.she used a lot of jargons and was a bit rude saying NO NO all the time. I think this lady sud get some lessons on soft skills and shud do a crash course in customer service as she back answers customers.
I will never in my life give my kitchen work to SLEEK...bad customer service...

    1. Yes on the 13 March 10, Mr.Ravi with his wife had visited the showroom and confirmed the order with only one visit to showroom, the customer had reference of earlier customer staying in the same building, The order was finalized for Rs.1,50,000/-. When the order was finalized The design of kitchen was done in front of the customer, as per their needs and working style, It was made clear that we will be manufacturing the material as per the design signed by the customer. The payment terms were made clear to the customer,
    2. Please note that when the order was finalized the civil work at the site was still in progress n was completed by 21 march 10, we had arranged a person to the site for the electric points and chimney ducting outlet, he had marked the places n came back. The order was sent to company on 22nd March.
    3. The payment terms were made clear to customer that 50% advance to confirm
the order 45% at the time of the delivery of the material n 5% upon completion.
It was never said and mentioned in the contract that the completion amount is
    Negotiable.
    4. Yes I have done number of kitchens in the same housing society and have all happy customers there who had given them the reference and no one has any complain as yet.
    5. When the material was ready with us, we tried to contact Mr.Ravi to inform him so, but his phone nos were never reachable and we were just clueless how to contact him as he is staying at Navy nagar and we never knew when exactly he is coming to the site, so we had no option but to wait for his call. The lady never had any mobile number. The landline number given by customer required some extension number which was never given to us.
    6. In spite of all these things when she contacted us we started our work without receiving any payment from the customer which he was suppose to do before shifting the material. We started our work 25th April. (can see the registers at outlet and transport details)
    7. We noticed that the electric points and the ducting outlet was not ready and the electric points were not at the place where we had given markings. The other workers working there never co-operated us, made us wait out of the house for long time as the keys were with them and the customer were never there present at site. In between when Mrs.Ravi contacted us she said that we want work complete within 3 days means 3 days without understanding problems we were facing at the site. After asking Mr.Ravi, he transferred the payment to our bank on 29th April which he was suppose to pay us at the time of delivery (He accuses me of being interested in money, but I started the work seeing his urgency of shifting within time even though he hadn’t paid at said time)
    8. We faced many problem during installations with workers there, unable to talk to Mr.or Mrs.Ravi, so called off the installation of chimney and Hob as there were chances n threat of getting any damage by other workers in the house, this thing we tried to convey Mrs.Ravi but as usual she didn’t allowed us to talk and explain the situation whenever she called up, Mr.Ravi always threatened us that I am a commodore in Indian Navy, will launch the FIR in police, consumer courts. ( I would like to say one incident and that is when my site supervisor Shafique went there for getting the chimney and hob installation done by arranging civil workers which was not in our job scope, he was suppose to reach there at 11.30 but couldn’t reach as the lift in the same building was not working and he was really badly treated for this as he reached there ½ hr. late which he took to climb 10 floors,)
    9. As there were always accusations we decided to get the chimney hob installation done, to avoid the problems we arranged the civil person for ducting outlet and hob cutting at our cost. Be live me I just wanted to avoid the problems n nothing else but Mr.& Mrs.Ravi kept on being very rude to us. After the platform cutting for hob installation, she asked for the changes i.e. relocation of hob and chimney. Which was just impossible, we tried to explain but lady was never ready to hear anything. We explained Mr.Ravi the situation, he agreed that it was his mistake, still he wanted to proceed with change in design then we got the new design signed by them and did the changes for that also the couple never visited outlet, we had to run behind them as per their timings. Simultaneously arrange civil persons for them and handle the pressure of accusations by them. The Couple actually manipulated us like anything.
    10. Yes, in the same housing society when my designing didn’t go wrong at all and I was familiar with the kitchens there, I was avoiding to place the chimney and hob where customer was asking while designing and finalizing the kitchen, but the customer insisted it at that place,. The customer was always in hurry and never listened to us.
    11. We had done the said changes upon customer’s insistence again with the intension of helping them and sorting out the things in spite of all wrong accusations. Now the only work pending at the site is gas pipe connection to cylinder ( The gas tube and cylinder is not ready at site when we had done the hob installation) and keeping the baskets in single p/o. We requested Mr.Ravi that we will keep the baskets do the hob installation the same time he pays us our balance amount of Rs.5000 + 1500/- for the reinstallation and civil work at his place extra, he then got angry like anything and started shouting on us. Which was totally unbearable. He threatened us many a times, never listened to what we wanted to say, and his accusation of me being only interested in money is totally false, There was never a term of negotiable balance payment. My work there is definitely good and as per the design signed by customer.
    12. The delay in installation is all because of non favourable working conditions at site.

Please note that we have completed the work at the site and not received our payment till date.

After verifying credentials of Sleek modular Kitchen from Sleek modular kitchens, Modular kitchens, Modular kitchen, I ordered a modular kitchen for my house in Nov 2011 from a sleek dealer in Ghaziabad Mr. Rajeev Goel Ethics less Person, Idiot and Mad. Later I was informed that he was a franchise and OEM has no control over him.

After paying 1.68 lac, he has not made my kitchen on standards as per he discussed with us.

when i have ordered then he has taken measurement but most of the items as less size or big size, now is he is cutting everything or making adjustments.

In this case i have contacted to Mr. Jairaj Vice President of Company, he is also not having control on this man.

I have written a mail to Mr. Anup (anup@sleekworld.com), but he has also escalate the issue and not listen carefully.
